Growth Hacks, we see posts and tips, but when we try them out, nothing is working. I’m here, to be frank with you so listen up; stop trying to hack your growth.

Instagram is so saturated and to be honest, Unless you have something that can propel you, It’s not going to work.

Stop joining comment pods, engagement pods those are so tiring. I actually got put in several (not by choice) I was added and I tried it for a month or two and I was not into it. There were so many rules and how many comments you needed to leave and how many words and the catching up factors into it. Honestly, I have things to do and not enough time to comit to something like that.

I’ve seen it work for a lot of people, but they were always on it. I can’t spend every hour making sure I’m up-to-date before I leave my new post. No judgment, but It’s not for me, and that’s why I’m not going to share that as a tip.

Now that I got that out of the way, Here are tried and true “Hacks” if you will, on how I get engagement.


$1.80 Dollar Tactic

Gary Vee’s $1.80 – If you don’t know what it is, get into it. I did this for a week straight and had so much activity. Followers? Not so much. But comments, likes and I ended up on that explore page. Hooray! I made it!

Be Social

Simply commenting back and being social. Meaning: Reply to the comments, like other people’s posts. Leave meaningful comments on pages you like and don’t worry about looking like you’ve been sucking up.

If you genuinely like their posts, tell them. It makes me feel so good to know people like images that I have poured my heart and soul into it.


Know when your followers are active. Try to get a general sense of when people log-on. Some apps are helpful, and you can run polls to ask them directly. Take that data, research it and post to it.

Don’t target the same people

Have you ever wondered If you’re targeting the right people? If I’m a marketing company. Why would I use the hashtags such as #Marketing #MarketingGuru – Okay, I wouldn’t use “Guru” But you catch my drift.

I would use hashtags like: #SmallBiz #Momoftwins etc… You’re trying to reach customers. Not other marketers. Now, You’re probably thinking that most people would search the hashtag for marketing.

Not really. People would use google and keywords to find the businesses they are trying to find. If you don’t have a big following, the algorithm won’t share your page because there are millions of others who have an established audience.

Make Better Content

Ask the people why they followed you or why they like your posts. I thought people liked my content because of how aesthetically pleasing it was. I was wrong. They like my content because of me. Mind blown? Me too!

That’s data. Use it to curate and create stuff that gives them a reason to share and like. Easy, Peasy!
